I just got my new iMac, ( the new one apple released with the iSight built in ), and I'm trying to get Linux on it, but it won't boot.
Last message I see says something about my video card, yada, yada, yada, I get a message telling me that there has been a "memory access violation"

Anyways, I'm thinking it might be an issue with my graphics card, seeing as it crashes to quickly after loading it's driver.

I've tried booting with
> ppc32 video=radeonfb
and
> ppc32 video=ofonly ( or whatever the option was, I cannot remember right now )

I'll try to get the exact error message as soon as I get my cameras batteries charged and can look at the picture I took.
Untill then, any ideas?

The G5 is a 64 bit machine. You should use the PPC64 install media.

Oh my Gosh! I've been running 64 bit this whole time and I haven't even noticed it! I need to pay more attention!

Hi,

Would you try Minimal Install CD of the following ?
http://dev.gentoo.org/~dostrow/install-ppc64-minimal-2005-r2.iso

Thank you.

[note]
Your iMacG5 is very new.
It is not supported yet by neither gentoo-sources nor vanilla-sources...
So, when you choose the kernel source, please choose git-sources or mm-sources.
