Code:
* Caching service dependencies ...
 *  Service 'named' already provided by 'dns'!;
 *  Not adding service 'dnsmasq'...
how do I get rid of this when I start a /etc/init.d/"service" I've already unmerge dnsmasq. and I have no Idea what file to look in to get rid of this.

I'm having a similar issue with vixie-cron and vcron - it'd be nice to lose this (though most of my boxen are now running initng, so that's one way of dealing with the issue... :)

yeah it really is just a minor nuisance and it only happen's when I start something manually. it has to be in a file somewhere. I just don't know which one. It would be nice if one of the gentoo people would tell me. because it's their init system. I know our's isn't the same as other people.
