Hi,

I am sorry to bother you with a question that surely has already been asked and answered, but searching for "list" "list all" "list all packages" all return 0 results, so I seem to do something wrong - yet I don't know what.

I am running the same gentoo installation for 2 years now on my notebook, and over the time I have aquired lots of packages that I don't need anymore. Of course I dont know which exactly those are, so I search for a tool that shows me all installed packages, perfect would be also if the dependencies are shown for every package.

I want to do this because my hd is getting pretty full...

Thx,

Alex

umm... ok
Assuming your system is up to date, 'emerge -etp world' will probably fulfil your requirements.

If you haven't gotten rid of orphaned dependancies yet then 'emerge -p --depclean' might be the place to start before looking through the output from the above.

[edit] assumng you've pruned unneeded distfiles? 'eclean -d distfiles' is your friend :) 'man eclean' for details [/edit]

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads in favour of GF3: How do I get a list of installed packages?
