I have three Gentoo desktop machines, and with the schwack of weekend-stable-releases, I've been busy updating them all. Lots of Gnome-2.12-related stuff, which all went OK. However, two packages are causing me grief:

Code:
sys-fs/sysfsutils-1.3.0-r1
sys-apps/pmount-0.9.6

The basic failure seems to lie with sysfsutils:
Code:
mv -f libsysfs_la-sysfs_utils.o .libs/libsysfs_la-sysfs_utils.lo
mv: cannot stat 'libsysfs_la-sysfs_utils.o': No such file or directory

pmount's complaint seems lesser, and likely to be resolved once sysfsutils moves ahead:
Code:
configure: error: Missing /usr/include/sysfs/libsysfs.h (install libsysfs-dev or similar?)

Of the three machines, two exhibit this problem. The third is fine. What is different about this third machine:
  • it's older. Gentoo went on a couple of years ago, whereas the other two are ~6-8 months
  • the successful machine once had a full/complete KDE install (pmount seems to be KDE-related). The other two are generall non-KDE, but have just enough on them to allow K3b and Konqueror to exist

Generally, all machines are x86 stable (a few exceptions here and there), with gcc 3.4.4 and toolchain/world re-compiled 3 weeks ago.
Kernels I've tried are both 2.6.15-r1 and the prior 2.6.14-r5. Neither helps.

Here's the first problematic machine:
Code:
root@zero ~ # emerge --info
Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 i686)
