I notice that, after being deprecated for a while, finally etcat has gone from the gentools package :-( . I was a regular user of etcat -v to look at versions and masking. What should I use instead?

Thank a lot

Thanks a lot!! After browsing through that thread, it seems the best tool is this http://catmur.co.uk/~ed/main/my-bin/dep which seems a nice tool to do all sorts of things portage, pitty there is no ebuild though.

No problem. I just happened to be reading that thread this morning. No real no need for an ebuild. Just drop it into $PATH somewhere and away you go. :)

You are right, installation is dead easy, but if there were an ebuild it would remind me to update it from time to time :-)
