Has anyone installed the TSM backup client on Gentoo Linux PPC 64? I have Gentoo installed on an IBM P710. I installed the TSM client (using RPM since that is the format it comes in). Once it is installed and configured, it gives me the following message:

/usr/bin/dsmc: Accessing a corrupted shared library

Any ideas? I did some searches and didn't really come up with anything. Thanks.

The problem is likely that tsm was built shared using 32bit libraries and your gentoo installation is 64bit.

Try the following;

- install app-emulation/emul-linux-ppc-glibc
- ldd /usr/bin/dsmc (you should see a list of libs it requires)
- find 32bit ppc versions of the libraries it requires, put them somewhere in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Since ppc64 multilib is kinda lacking right now, you can grab the ppc32 stage3 from a mirror and get
hopefully most of the shared libs your missing.

It's a hack but should work.
