hi!

i decided to swich kernel, so i emerged it and ... and this is strange, after 3 time i got menuconfig, when i have finished i cannot compile kernel. strange is that every time it is little different error (always compiler error, but in different place)

i think that it is not normal, it should be the same error, am i right (on x86 i never had sth like that)? so .. what is wrong??

This looks to be an internal GCC problem. Could you post the usual make.conf, and if you've done anything non-standard with GCC could you post details. This isn't a segfault so it doesn't look like a bad build of GCC, maybe a strange bug that needs fixing.

It's actually GCC segfaulting, hence the internal compiler error (ICE). This is usually one of these two things:

1. Kernel Preempt: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml#gccsegfaults
2. Toolchain being built with bad CFLAGS

I'd like to see your emerge info please!

Fair enough. I thought ICE was data inconsistancy, assertion failiures or other "code should never reach here" things, and segfault actually gave a segfault error message. I've never used PPC so this might be different to x86 behaviour. I don't know, so I wont pretend I do :).
