Good day all.

I'm at the point of my install to run yabootconfig. I used the genkernel install and I think I've gotten my yaboot.conf config'd correctly. However I get the error message that yabootconfig cannot find a kernel.

I've config'd yaboot.conf with:

image=/boot/kernel-genkernel-ppc-2.6.15-gentoo-r1
label=Linux
root=/dev/ram0
partition=3
append="real_root=/dev/hda3 init=/linuxrc"
# You can add additional kernel arguments to be appended such as
# rootdelay=10 for a USB/Firewire Boot
read-only

What am I missing? Is that not the correct path? What would be the correct path for this?

Thanks in advance.

Good day, illfish.

If yabootconfig cannot find the kernel, can you?
Code:
ls /boot/kernel-genkernel-ppc-2.6.15-gentoo-r1

If you are still having this problem; consider:
Asking a moderator to move your post to the "Gentoo on PPC" forum.
Changing the topic to something more descriptive, e.g. "yabootconfig cannot find kernel."
Doing a Quick Search on yabootconfig and see if other solutions apply.

Try to access /boot/kernel-genkernel-ppc-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 youself, to see if that's the right location.
Generally yaboot experts are more in the ppc forum.

Just for the record, did you run

# ybin -v

After updating yaboot?

So, check which kernel you copied to /boot/ and copy that name into /etc/yaboot.conf just as you did. And then run the command 'ybin -v'
