Help!

I've always received errors about not being able to 'access the hardware clock via any known method'. It's never bothered me before. Now, however, my G3 PowerMac refuses to boot!

It claims that accessing the clock is such an important task that it can't possibly continue, and that I should do something about it, and reboot. I then get an option to hit CTRL and D to continue, or enter the root password to enter maintenance mode. However the keyboard doesn't respond to anything at this point!

I've also tried holding down / repeatedly stabbing the I key to enter interactive mode when booting. This also has no effect. The keyboard does work, though. I can type stuff in the cool yaboot menu thing :)

I assume I will have to put my hard disk in another system and edit something so that my system doesn't freak out when it tries to access the hardware clock. Any ideas?

Perhaps you need CONFIG_HPET=y in the kernel.

See FAQ for how to recover from a non-bootable PC - just boot from the LiveCD and chroot, basically.

That really bites! From memory I had to do all sorts of BS to boot from a CD on this thing ( no IDE drivers on boot CD, for starters ).

So there's *NO* way I can recover without the boot CD, eh?
