Is there the possibility to play audio cds with my iBook that has no audio connection cable from the cd-rom to the sound card besides using xmms?

I would prefer to use rhythmbox, maybe there is also an integration of xmms in rhythmbox. I also tried grip and wmcdplay ...without success.

Thanks for all your help and this great forum!

It has to play it digitally so that the sound hardware does the convertation not the drive itself.
Like xmms does with the plugin (as said in the ppc-faq).
Personally I like xmms.

Thanks for the response.

I like XMMS too, the problem is that if you have 17Gig of mp3s it is a little difficult to keep an overview over all the music, but maybe there is a plugin for xmms that does a similar job as rhythmbox when it comes to sorting mp3s....does anybody know?

Totem also reads audio CDs digitally, but it's kind of crappy to manage 1.7 GiB of mp3 on it. :D

rhythmbox uses sound-juicer to import CDs; sound-juicer uses cdparanoia both for ripping and for listening to CDs.

I am using the new rhythmbox 0.9.2 testing version under ppc (it works well by the way, in case anybody is interested) and it depends on totem. But I haven't found a way to play audio cds with it. Can anybody help? That would be great, thanks. :D

I am using gnome-cd-play ( I think that is what it was called) and it works fine. I would still be interested in how to play cds in rhythmbox though. Anyways...xmms is not needed anymore now.
