Hi!

I have always wondered about how I can make a package "masked".
For example when I run 'emerge -uD world', and it will try to install some unwanted packages (like mozilla suite -mozilla).

How do I prevent that particular package from installing?

Thx in advance!

Code:
echo "www-client/mozilla" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

or
Code:
echo ">=www-client/mozilla-1.7.11" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

if another package depends on e.g. mozilla-1.7.11 you can't install it though.

Hope this helps

Please see section GF5B in the masked packages FAQ.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads.
