I don't know, who turns my iBook's display off after a while. I stopped pbbuttonsd , xscreensaver daemon isn't running, kde energy saving is disabled, kde screensaver is disabled. But after 15 minutes the screen light turns off.

look in /etc/X11/xorg.conf for DPMS lines.

Sounds good, I deleted that line. I've seen there are default blank times abround 10 minutes which is the case.

Try looking at xset. xset -dpms turn it off. you still might have a wm/screensaver that blanks the screen. try xset +dpme; xset dpme 4 8 12 # seconds :)
