I installed Gnome
Code:
emerge gnome xscreensaver

but when it finished this error appeared:
Code:

!!! ERROR: sys-apps/apmd-3.2.1_p4 faild.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 50, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed

I assume everything else installed fine but I'm just wondering what I should do if anything to fix this. I will be using gkrell or other programs to measure the temp of my cpus so not sure if this is ness. or not.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, that is a problem. The merge will not have completed successfully.

The actual error message will be above what you posted.

No... it's above that as well. Probably immediately above the first "Error 1" message.

If apmd failed, gnome won't have been fully installed, so you'll need to redo the emerge gnome anyway.

Uh, you can turn on logging in /etc/make.conf - use the PORT_LOGDIR setting.

OK, I'm guessing you upgraded gcc or changed CHOST recently. You need to run fix_libtool_files.sh 3.4.3.

Well, it's something along those lines. I've had problems like that associated with gcc upgrades and have resolved them with fix_libtool_files etc. You probably want to read https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=279020

# emerge libtool

Although I use a different gcc version, I had a similar problem. This worked while fix_libtool_files didn't.

Moved from Desktop Environments to Duplicate Threads in favour of jpeg-6b-r4 fails to compile, fix_libtool_files.sh is no help.
