Hello,

I just got a new G5 dual core and I'd like to install linux on it. Naivly I took the latest ppc64 livecd and tried to boot it ... however that just hangs just displaying some message about the of tree having been copied. The screen is blank with black text and the fans start running full after a few seconds ...

I know the experimental kernel patch are available since sometime now and I wondered if any live CD was aivalable with a compatible kernel ... I don't have any other ppc/ppc64 machine and I'd like to avoid having to build a cross compiling toolchain to build one myself ...

Hello,

there will be support for the quad g5 on the 2006.0 CD. Sorry, I think you have to wait for the official release. You could try to convice someone in #gentoo-ppc64 (IRC channel) to give you a beta live cd.

Regards,

Markus
