I was wondering, is there a virtualization tool for OS X like MOL that would allow running a linux ppc installation while inside of OS X?

It would sure be nice for those of us with the currently unsupported powerbooks and the like that would like access to all that great Gentooness while we are awaiting the updated installation disc.

Qemu or its Mac derivative, Q....

But it's not fast. I was using Q to run Win98 as a virtual machine. Emulating the x86 must take quite a bit of processing power....

Thanks for your input SickBoy, however I was looking for something where I could solely run a PPC Operating System (namely Gentoo) in virtualization while in OS X under my Powerbook G4 17" 5,9.

So, I am not looking to use something that emulates an entire architecture, rather something that allows me to run a usermode sandboxed linux-based OS entirely in the PPC Architecture and code execution set.

Sorry for the confusion.

I played with Mac on Mac for awhile back in it's very early stages. You might give it a look.

I played with Darwin and portage in mac-on-linux..
I think I can tell ya, this won't be fun!
well, kay, if you got a G5 with more than 1 cores maybe (only an iBook G4 1.2GHz here).. but I don't think, Mac-on-Mac will use more than one core and or emulate an G5 at all ^^

hmm... but you could use distcc to let it compile under OS X and using all cores this way... ideas ^^
