I just bought a Sceptre X20G 20" LCD(wide screen) and replaced my Apple 17" LCD. The system booted fine until I started xorg(xorg-7.0-r1 on gentoo PPC64 running on G5) and gnome(2.12): Gnome started but the whole screen blured and was flickering. I could only see the screen layout and couldn't read any text on it. The xorg.conf used was generated by Xorgautoconfig, and the resolution was rightly set(1680x1050). The card is ati 9600Pro, 64M. There is no problem when Apple 17" LCD is used.
What could be the problem? Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Try changing the UseFBDev option to the opposite of whatever it's set to now (true/false).
