Still trying to nut this one out, having had no problems with wine emerging before I am suddenly confronted by ths error.

i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -c -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -DINCLUDEDIR="\"/usr/include/wine\"" -Wall -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing -gstabs+ -Wpointer-arith -O1 -o lex.yy.o lex.yy.c
lex.yy.c:2610: error: syntax error before numeric constant
lex.yy.c: In function `yy_scan_string':
lex.yy.c:2611: error: number of arguments doesn't match prototype
lex.yy.c:305: error: prototype declaration
lex.yy.c:2613: warning: passing arg 1 of `strlen' makes pointer from integer without a cast
lex.yy.c:2613: warning: passing arg 1 of `yy_scan_bytes' makes pointer from integer without a cast
make[2]: *** [lex.yy.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-0.9.8-r1/work/wine-0.9.8/tools/wrc'
make[1]: *** [wrc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-0.9.8-r1/work/wine-0.9.8/tools'
make: *** [tools] Error 2

!!! ERROR: app-emulation/wine-0.9.8-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 119, Exitcode 2

any help shed on what is going on would be greatly appreciated.

Same here:

x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -c -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -DINCLUDEDIR="\"/usr/include/wine\"" -Wall -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing -gstabs+ -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wpointer-arith -march=k8 -O2 -pipe -o lex.yy.o lex.yy.c
lex.yy.c:2610: error: syntax error before numeric constant
lex.yy.c: In function `yy_scan_string':
lex.yy.c:2611: error: number of arguments doesn't match prototype
lex.yy.c:305: error: prototype declaration
lex.yy.c:2613: warning: passing arg 1 of `strlen' makes pointer from integer without a cast
lex.yy.c:2613: warning: passing arg 1 of `yy_scan_bytes' makes pointer from integer without a cast
make[2]: *** [lex.yy.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-0.9.8-r1/work/wine-0.9.8/tools/wrc'
make[1]: *** [wrc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-0.9.8-r1/work/wine-0.9.8/tools'
make: *** [tools] Error 2

!!! ERROR: app-emulation/wine-0.9.8-r1 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1894: Called dyn_compile
ebuild.sh, line 941: Called src_compile

Really annoying, it seems to be related to LDAP though.

Mask the flex package:
Code:
>=sys-devel/flex-2.5.33

Then install the older version:
Code:
emerge -uv flex

Then start wine installation, on my computer, it has compiled successfully

Alright, I managed to fight through this and get wine installed. If anyone is intrested here is what I did.

emerge -va wine

Showed me all the dependencies and listed possible use flags and showed me which use flags I didn't have set. So i went and added all the possible use flags and ran.

emerge --newuse world

tried to emerge wine again and I still got the same error!! OK I'll try this now.

emerge --sync

Everything sync's up, I had done this just 2 weeks ago, and I try again. This time when I emerge -va wine I see it has a new dependency that it didn't have before. I don't remember exactly what it was but it was a fonts package of some sort, sorry I can't be more specific. I add one more use flag that the fonts package needed and emerge wine. This time it goes off without a hitch....YEAH me!!! Hope this helps someone in the future.

I tend to use the stuff marked stable unless I am forced to use the newer stuff because of hardware
