Eh guys, a bit of a newbie question this time, please forgive the simpleness.

I was just trying to upgrade a few things on a headless gentoo box, when suddenly it reported that it will need xorg to do that?
How can it be that it needs X all of the sudden? And is there a way to get rid of that?

Thanx for any help offered.

Probably a change to default USE flags (make.defaults).

Unset sdl on links, or arts on libsdl.

Not to sound to green,

But what's sdl or arts ? And can I just safely set -arts or -sdl in make.conf?

thanx.

Well, sdl is the Simple Direct Media Layer and aRts is the KDE sound (and all-around multimedia) server/output manager. Neither is likely to be of much use on a headless server.

Yes, you can unset them in /etc/make.conf.
