Hi, I'm in the early stages of installing Gentoo and everything goes wel untill I chroot to /mnt/gentoo, after this name resolution doesn't work anymore. I can ping ip's but when a name needs to be resolved it fails. I've added my isp's nameservers to /etc/resolve.conf and this does not seem to help. Before I chroot'ed everything worked fine.

I've done exactly as the handbook states, given the nessecary commands (did the whole thing several times), so I'm at a loss and some help would be appreciated.

ps: my internet nic is eth1 and I brought it up by doing net-setup. I also opened the handbook on another tty, on this tty (not chroot'ed) everything still works as expected.

Oops, that was it, I should definately drink less coffee when doing this stuff.. 8O

btw. If I have the handbook running on another tty, is it possible to copy & paste text between 2 tty's?
After I finished up the installation and rebooted, I cannot use links2 anymore, I tried 'emerge links2' and after that
I tried 'emerge links', which started to install everything but the kitchensink, so I wondered how to get links2 back?

thanks for the help,
narcan

The USE= flags you have set in your /etc/make.conf are pulling in a lot of unwanted dependencies.

If you want to install links early in the installation process, try doing it this way.
Code:
# USE="-*" emerge -pv links
