I'm about to purchase a dual 2Ghz powermac G5 with standard pci/pci-X slots, to dual boot gentoo and tiger. I have a PC avermedia TV card . Does anyone know if the avermedia PCI tv card will work in Gentoo PPC on the powermac G5? This particular card IS supported in x86 Linux. Thanks,

Scott

It's a philips chipset. Uses the bttv driver on my x86 computer.

The booktree (bttv) chipsets should work fine on ppc.

I know that the saa7134 (also a Philips chipset) doesn't work on ppc. It just let my machine 'hang'.

Okay thanks for the replies. My refurb powermac is shipping, ETA Mar 9th. (I'm very anxious to see gentoo PPC64 run on this machine!) So I guess I'll just try my tv card and see if it works. If not, it's destined for ebay....
