I'm trying to emerge OpenOffice-2.0.1 and it seems to have hung up, This is the last output:
Code:
------------------------------
Making: ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/ipythonloader.uno.lib
no ImportLibs on Mac and *ix
-------------
cp pythonloader.py ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/pythonloader.py
rm -f ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/pyuno_services.rdb ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/pyuno_services.tmp ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/pyuno_services.rdb
cd ../../unxlngppc.pro/lib && regcomp -register -r pyuno_services.tmp -c typeconverter.uno -c invocation.uno -c reflection.uno -c introspection.uno -c invocadapt.uno -c proxyfac.uno -c pythonloader.uno
register component 'typeconverter.uno' in registry 'pyuno_services.tmp' succesful!
register component 'invocation.uno' in registry 'pyuno_services.tmp' succesful!

Any ideas what may have happened? I'll probably try to emerge again, btu since it takes 15 hours to compile on my iBook, I'd rather check to see what people think.

I ended up killing htis regcomp.bin task that was eating up all the CPU, which in turn killed the openoffice emerge. I got this output:
Code:
Terminated
dmake:  Error code 143, while making '../../unxlngppc.pro/lib/pyuno_services.rdb'
'---* tg_merge.mk *---'

ERROR: Error 65280 occurred while making /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-2.0.1/work/ooo-build-2.0.1.3/build/ooa680-m1/pyuno/source/loader
make: *** [stamp/build] Error 1

Also my syslog filled up to 26G, all with this message:
Code:
Mar  2 18:01:02 bonsai AltiVec used in kernel (task=e1124790, pc=0)

Not sure what really happened.

Are you building OO.o on a G4 without altivec support in your kernel? I had the same problem when building the GRP, you should use a binary (either from the package cds or one of the G3' ones floating around) if you really don't want altivec support.

I ended up enabling altivec support and things worked fine... I just wish I knew that before wasting 12 hours! Thanks for the help!

So no Mac here. Any ideas? Syslog contains nothing of interest.

No, this is a completely different issue, sorry. The issue here was very ppc specific.

Yes, apparently. But the symptoms do seem quite similar.
