After a gcc compiler upgrade to 3.4.5 (as described in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml#upgrade-3.3-to-3.4 Gentoo Upgrade Gcc here), the last step is to perform a 'emerge -e world' but I'm getting repeated security violation during that step.
Code:
>>> emerge (13 of 572) sys-devel/gcc-3.4.5 to /
!!! Security Violation: A file exists that is not in the manifest.
!!! File: files/stubs/gcc-4.1-htb-stub.patch

Despite performing the following suggested step as posted elsewhere in this Portage & Programming forum.
Code:
rm -rf /var/tmp/portage/* && rm -f /usr/portage/distfiles/*

Is there a way for 'emerge' to 'resume' a compilation after updating the Digest (nevermind the security implication here)? 'emerge -e' is pretty drastic. Everytime I get a security violation, I have to start at the beginning.... (groan).

I mean...

when a package requires a 'newuse' (most likely because we didn't do rebuild with --newuse a long time ago), we lose the --resume capability. No way out, uh? Redo the whole enchilada (emerge -e world)?

But what about doing
Code:
ebuild [package-name] digest
? Is --resume capability lost there?
