running a iMac G5 I installed Gentoo, which went beautifully!
manually I configured yaboot.conf as follows:

boot=/dev/sda4
device=/ht@0,f2000000/pci@3/k2-sata-root@c/k2-sata@0/disk@0
ofboot=hd:2
timeout=30
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
image=/boot/vmlinux
root=/dev/sda6
partition=6
label=Linux
read-only

default=Linux
macosx=/dev/sda3

but when I try to into Gentoo it swiches into the screen which you will get when pressing TAB, when you startup.
going into MacOSX is no problem

Am I overlooking something? ybin -v didn't give any errors

Thank you very much. Seeing your yaboot.conf, I assume that you installed MacOSX AFTER installing Gentoo and SuSE??

I will get right into it in the weekend

I have ran SuSE for many years, up to 9.3 for the Intel processor
but didn't give me enough challenges and Gentoo does, although
my favorite OS is FreeBSD
But thanks again for explaining it to me

Yes i've installed macOSX after gentoo and opensuse

Before installing macOSX , from the gentoo system
kernel with hfs and hfsplus modules

Code:

emerge sys-fs/hfsutils
emerge sys-fs/hfsplusutils

look
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_hfsplus#Newer_Linux_port_from_OS_X_10.4.3

Code:

wget http://darwinsource.opendarwin.org/tarballs/apsl/diskdev_cmds-332.11.tar.gz
wget http://dev.gentoo.org/~josejx/diskdev_cmds-332.11.patch.bz2
tar zxf diskdev_cmds-332.11.tar.gz
bunzip2 -c diskdev_cmds-332.11.patch.bz2 | patch -p0
cd diskdev_cmds-332.11
make -f Makefile.lnx
cp newfs_hfs.tproj/newfs_hfs /sbin/mkfs.hfsplus
cp fsck_hfs.tproj/fsck_hfs /sbin/fsck.hfsplus
cd /sbin
ln -s mkfs.hfsplus mkfs.hfs
ln -s fsck.hfsplus fsck.hfs

Code:

mac-fdisk /dev/sda

alambic ~ # mkfs.hfsplus -v rootOSX /dev/sda6
Initialized /dev/sda6 as a 88 GB HFS Plus volume
