I have installed Gentoo and Grub on /dev/hda ,
also Installed Windows XP on /dev/hdc1
Gentoo can boot perfectly ,but Windows XP can not boot.
it gives me a hint : unknown partition type ! then stops .
I remember that GRUB can boot Windows XP on NTFS,why Can't I??
this is my Grub.conf

Code:
title=Windows XP
root (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

In addition , /dev/hdc has big space (160G) .some of the space can not be recongnized by BIOS,I only can used 137G!
my partition type of /dev/hdc1 is NTFS.
when I choose the "first boot device [hd1]" in BIOS ,windows XP can boot perfectly!

Why not search before asking?
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-122656-highlight-unknown+partition.html
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-440643-highlight-unknown+partition.html
(And there are several other hits via Gentoo forums search, not to mention Google.)
Duplicate thread?
