After an update, I ge this evry time I try to logon:

configuration error - unknown item 'FAILLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'LASTLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'FTMP_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_ROOTPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'PASS_MIN_LEN' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'CHFN_AUTH' (notify administrator)

Any ideeas on what could have caused this, what this means, or how to fix it?
Could this have been caused by the recent update to baselayout?

maybe you updated some stuff like pam and did you not update your config (with etc-update, dispatch-conf, etc.)
I would try that first

There was an update to PAM a few days ago, just run etc-update and update the PAM config files and it works fine :)
