When i want to log in as the root i get these messages:

configuration error - unknown item 'FAILLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'LASTLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'FTMP_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_ROOTPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'PASS_MIN_LEN' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'CHFN_AUTH' (notify administrator)

Every thing works fine except that every time I log in I get these messages.What can I do? :?:

Well its something to do with outdated configs... Dispatch should have helped. Are you sure your system is up-to-date?

Check /etc/login.defs. You may want to remerge shadow.

I looked into the file and commented out those lines.Now it doesn't give me any warnings but is that safe?

Not sure; I don't know much about it. You might read login.defs(5).

Well, the recent shadow update removed those lines from login.defs, I'd guess you simply ignored that update in dispatch-conf/etc-update.
