Hi,
I have python-2.4.2 installed and (probably) working properly. revdep-rebuild says the dynamic linking is consistent. However, I still have python-2.3.5 on my system. Can I safely unmerge it? I have a few binary packages like openoffice installed on the system. Will they get affected?

I am asking this because python seems to be the most important package for portage and I don't want to mess up portage.

Thanks a lot.

Make sure you rebuild any packages that have something in /usr/lib/python/2.3/ before you unmerge it and it shouldn't be any problem.
