Hello. I'm new to gentoo and was curious how do you unmask ebuilds? Is this a good thing to do? -Please help. THanks

There are a few steps you can do before posting a question:
1. Search the wiki pages
2. Use the search function of this forum
3. And if you can't find anything, you can post the question ;)

Unmasking a package by keyword isn't a great deal, and mostly it isn't a bad thing. Those packages are for 80% stable. Sometimes you have to unmask a package otherwise it isn't available.
Unmasking a package that is hard-masked is a bigger deal. When a package is hardmasked it means that it's still in his testing periode and it's not stable enough to release it yet ...

Hi, you can unmask by editing /etc/portage/packae.unmask by adding a line like

Code:

x11-drivers/ati-drivers ~amd64


and after the Tilde is your architecture
