I configured the linux-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 kernel with
make menuconfig
make defconfig
as mentioned in the 2006.0 handbook for PPC section 7.c architecture.

The kernel does not link, here's the output

arch/powerpc/kernel/built-in.o: In function 'power4_idle':
: multiple definition of 'power4_idle'
arch/ppc/kernel/idle_power4.o:arch/ppc/kernel/idle_power4.S:(.text+0x4): first defined here
drivers/built-in.o: In function pmac_wakeup_devices':
via-pmu.c:(.text+0x7903c): undefined reference to 'pmac_tweak_clock_spreading'
drivers/built-in.o: In function 'pmac_suspend_devices':
via-pmu.c:(.text+0x7903c): undefined reference to 'pmac_tweak_clock_spreading'
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1

I do not understand where does the problem come from. Misconfiguration during the
make menuconfig
step or a problem of Makefile ?

Anyone could help please, I'm stuck.

PS: I compile on a Powerbook G4 12", last model before the Probook (mac-intel)
