Hello Everybody,

My problem is about unrecognized harddrive in PMac 9600/200. I've two 2006.1 installation cd and lots of headache :( . When i boot linux kernel with bootX, everything seems ok. I follow the guides in the doc folder. But when i try to partition my HD, 'parted' alerts as no such device. Then i looked at '/dev' folder and there was no 'sda' or 'hda' device. After hours of reading manuals and forums, i found some bootx arguements (doscsi, noacpi etc...). I've tried all of them but the was same: no hardrive.

In fact my SCSI cdrom device is attached through the same port and functional, but hd is not...

Please help me. I'm comletely helpless...

Please check dmesg and see what was detected. I think that machine has a SCSI MESH adaptor built in, make sure that it is loading okay (check dmesg).

Hi again,

'dmesg' tool resulted with lots of these lines: 'IN from bad port 338 at c0258950'. After these lines mesh driver and the others seen witout error .

Then i tried 'dmsetup' tool with 'status' option. It resulted with this:

Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?
Failure to communicate with kernel device-mapper driver
Command failed

is this the main problem??
thanks
