I've done some searching around the forums and have found a few references to thsi problem, but definitive solution. Does anyone have any ideas? Here is the error I get, whether I use distcc or not. By the way, how do I capture the portion of the message that scrolls off the screen?

with shift + pgUp ?
but how many lines you are to scroll up it depends on the size of the buffer
try to give the lines around the place where the firs error occured, as for now it looks like it's some error just in the middle of error printout

I've found 2 issues with compiling splashutils recently.

First I had to recompile klibc to get past one error. Then I had to rename /usr/src/linux/include/linux/input.h, emerge splashutils, then rename the file back

What did you rename the file to?

Anything

The file causes problems just when compiling splashutils (or the latest version), but it is needed for other programs. So I just renamed it to input.old, re-emerged splashutils and renamed it back to input.h after the emerge had finished
