Hi

i don't know what did i do, probabily it was the emerge -u world, but now i experience some problems with Xorg (7.0): actually i'm using "nv" drivers for my geForce4

(and

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

)

but if i use the "nvidia" drivers the X server get a Segfault (Signal 11). Here my output (it's short, after all), the log don't show errors or something interesting.

Searching on google i found someone getting the same problem but with ATI drivers and it seems it's a driver issue. My problem is that before the update of the world i was using nvidia officials drivers 1.0.8756 (which seems to be the stable ones).

Actually i'm tired and i've to sleep, but tomorrow i'll try to emerge the old xorg-server.

Meanwhile, any help is really appreciated

Thanks

What version of xorg-server do you have installed?

Versions starting with xorg-server-1.0.99 don't currently work with the nvidia binary driver. You'll have to downgrade to the xorg-server-1.0.2 version until support for the new ABI is included in the nvidia drivers.

Moved from Desktop Environments to Duplicate Threads in favour of xorg-server-1.0.99.x ABI breaks nvidia/ati binary drivers.
