I suggest you change your topic into something like "kde-base/kdelibs-3.4.3-r1 failed".

Take a look at those bugs:

http://www.gentoo-portage.com/kde-base/kdelibs/Bugs#ptabs

---

In the meanwhile you can complete the update of the other packages either by adding the "--skipfirst" option or by adding "--pretend". If you use "--pretend" your output will look like this:

Code:
# emerge --update --deep --newuse --pretend world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild     U ] gnome-base/gdm-2.8.0.7-r1 [2.8.0.7] -debug +ipv6 +pam (-selinux) +tcpd -xinerama 0 kB
[ebuild   R   ] media-sound/amarok-1.3.8  -arts -debug -flac +gstreamer +kde +mp3 +musicbrainz -mysql -noamazon +opengl -postgres -visualization +vorbis +xine* -xinerama -xmms 0 kB
(...)

Total size of downloads: 0 kB

Then just emerge --oneshot gnome-base/gdm media-sound/amarok (...) but exclude kdelibs here.

Please see this FAQ: GF18: Emerge fails after upgrading gcc. libstdc++.la missing.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads.
