Hi there,
I was wondering if someone could help me get sound working on my iMac. (G4)
I put a kubuntu live cd in it before I installed Gentoo. Sound worked fine out of the box.
I did compile the Mac sound drivers into the kernel. (They were in the menuconfig thinger.) :D
But on boot, I get the Alsa line saying that no devices were found.
I dont remember the exact model (and lspci doesn't show it) but its a "Tumbler" or something.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I read the sound part of that page through, and made my kernel config exactly like that.
I unfortunately got a kernel panic though. Ill upload a picture soon.
(Yes, the I2C thing was put into the kernel with an asterik).

Could you post your kernel config too please? Are you sure you booted the correct kernel?

Please make sure that PowerMac DMA sound support is turned off, otherwise the ALSA module will not be able to load.

Soundcard: Apple|DMASOUND , driver = dmaSound_pmac

Yeah, it's compiled as a module on the InstallCD. The number of people who are going to use sound on the InstallCD is minimal and it gives people a way to try the OSS driver if they think there's a problem.

You didn't compile in I2C support, as suggested by the FAQ. On 2.6.15 and earlier, the option you're looking for is I2C_KEYWEST, on 2.6.16 and later, it's I2C_POWERMAC.

I'll have to see your configuration to help you with the screen blanking problem, but if you could describe exactly what isn't happening, that would help.

Ill take a look at the I2C thing..

Screen wise, well, Instead of turning the screen off, or at least the backlight off, it displays this yellow screen, sometimes solid, and sometimes with my desktop showing below. I move my mouse and its gone, but i cant get it to turn the monitor off.

Im pretty sure I enabled the Keywest one... Is there any other reason for it to panic?
