hi there... i'm on the point of leaving installing gentoo, i'm a little fed up with all this: i can't emerge dhcpcd,alsa-lib... because when it has downloaded everything and begin installing i receive messages like:
Code:
# emerge ...
!!! checking for C compilers default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

( of course i'm root ). and that doesn't really tell me what's happening. others i take:
Code:
 # emerge ....
!!! econf failed: exitvalue 0, line 405

sure internet's packets are correct but i haven't touched anything yet. also i don't wanna start again. could any of you help me? otherwise i'll install ubuntu  , which i hate.

you upgraded gcc and forgot to run fix_libtool_files.sh?
search this forums for your error, lots of help will be found.

Please see this FAQ, and follow up to the link inside if you're still having problems: C compiler cannot create executables.
