After browsing portage for a while, I noticed there are some ps2emu packages with a ppc flag. I thought that would be cool to have my PS2 games availabe to play anywhere on my powerbook, so I am wondering if there is a way to play PS2 games on my ppc arch? I don't understand why pcsx2 does not have ppc as a flag but some of the ps2emu's do?

Probably because it hasnt been tested on PPC or is not officiallly supported on PPC.
Do it the gentoo way 8) , try hacking the ebuild of the package in question. Although looking at it since the package has multiple part you will likely be hacking all of its deps. There arent many, just copy their folder structure into a portage overlay and begin the experiement muhhahha...;)

Sure you can do experiment as athrax suggested. One possiblity is that the pcsx2 contains
some x86 assembly. Direct assembly is relatively common in emulator, if that is the case
you may be out of luck to run it on ppc.

On the other hand a simple way of testing if the ebuild compile out of the box on ppc is to
do the following as root:
Code:
echo "games-emulation/pcsx2 x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

If you fell adventurous or it doesn't work, you can try to replace x86 by ~x86 which will give you
a more recent version.
If it is successful you should fill a bug to ask for a ~ppc keyword to be added to that ebuild.

Have fun.
