Could someone more knowledgeable about linux and kernel problems enlighten me? In the gentoo and the vanilla kernel sources, the option for 3-button-mouse emulation does not exist for ppc64; there's a number of threads about it:
here, here or here.

Now I have installed Suse 10.1 on my G5. It comes with a ppc64 kernel:
Code:
 % uname -a
Linux g5 2.6.16.13-4-ppc64 #1 SMP Wed May 3 04:53:23 UTC 2006 ppc64 ppc64 ppc64 GNU/Linux

However, here button-emulation works and is in the kernel config:
Code:
864 # Macintosh device drivers
865 #
866 CONFIG_ADB=y
867 CONFIG_ADB_PMU=y
868 CONFIG_PMAC_SMU=y
869 CONFIG_INPUT_ADBHID=y
870 CONFIG_MAC_EMUMOUSEBTN=y
871 CONFIG_THERM_PM72=y
872 CONFIG_WINDFARM=y
873 CONFIG_WINDFARM_PM81=y
874 CONFIG_WINDFARM_PM91=y
875 CONFIG_WINDFARM_PM112=y

Are these custom sources? Could I use this kernel to run gentoo as well? And would it be possible to use this config file to build a gentoo kernel? Sorry for the ignorance, but linux without right click is just less than useful...

That is certainly surprising to see. The CONFIG_ADB should have no effect on that machine as there is no ADB. I have to assume they've modified the mouse emulation so that it will support any mouse, not just one on the ADB.

I would think that moving that kernel to a Gentoo PPC64 system would work fine.
