I am having a problem installing gentoo on my G3, it can't seem to find my IDE Hard Drive. If you type in mac-fdisk hda it goes to my cd-rom drive....I have gone through most of the alphabet to no avail. Any ideas would be helpful.

Are you sure about IDE driver in your G3. Cold it be Ultra-ATA or SCSI? In that case check for "/dev/sd*" drives.

can you please put your "dmesg" command output here.

B+W only have IDE. Make sure that you don't have the hard disk and CD player plugged into the same IDE channel, the B+W G3's have known issues with slave devices. Also, make sure that the cmd64x module is loaded (or the driver loaded at startup). This should be the second IDE channel on those machines.

Good luck!

I did also check the /dev/sd* drives and got nothing

also a random note that might have something to do with it. to boot to the disk i have to type:

Code:
ppc32 video=ofonly nodetect

or else it crashes once it tries to detect my video card.

now for the dmesg

Code:
