Alrighty, for the past few days I have been installing Gentoo on my old G3 iMac. I am experienced with x86 installs but this install has been riddled with problems. While emerging KDE it wants both the IBM JRE and JDK to be installed. So off I went to the IBM website to find the package. Unfortunately, the SR3 package seems to not exist at IBM anymore and the other packages don't work (the digest verification fails). Does anyone know what the correct package is on http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux/older_download.html ? I know you use the iSeries/pSeries ones, but SR3 takes to somewhere else, SR4 doesn't work, GA-1 and GA don't work, and I haven't tied SR1a. If anyone could shed some light on my conundrum I would appreciate it.

IBM just removed the older versions, there's not much we can do about it, sorry. You can redigest the older ebuild with the newer version. Just download the file that's available, rename as directed in the ebuild for the older version, then ebuild name-of-ebuild.ebuild digest. It should work.
