|I'd like to slowly begin expanding the Gentoo on an iBook wiki article as I'm new to using Gentoo on this machine. I get the feeling that my relative inexperience with Gentoo on an iBook coupled to my overall Linux knowledge would make for pretty good documentation.
While I can't make the article all-inclusive I can, however, certainly insert a lot of information into it. That said, I'd like to solicit everyone for their power saving experiences on iBooks. I have a G4, and plan on testing the various alternatives personally, but would like to have some sort of a broad path to follow. The Power Management Guide offers some userspace alternatives, but is focused on ACPI and, seemingly, x86 machines. The ppc FAQ also has some information but it's not exceedingly comprehensive.
What do you use to save power on your ppc machine? Why do you use it? Why not set the kernel CPUFreq governor to performance and leave it at that? What problems have you had getting things to work? Do you use any front ends for userspace governors?
I'll eventually cover far more topics than this in the article, but power management seems like as good a place to start as any.
