just got this nice iBookG4 1.4gighz etc etc

came down cheap because of G5 so just had to get it - anyway:

couple of questions:

first, ive noticed the sleep light flickers in the linux kernel, has it been changed to represent the hard drive activity?
second, how easy is it to get DRI working on the radeons? ive always had trouble with older ones..
and thirdly, i take it opengl will work ok on this mac?

thanks for answers

Yup (technically it is an option you compile into the kernel).

so your saying for the sleep light to become a hard drive activity light, you have to include that in kernel?

or were you saying that to make it a sleep light only you have to compile it in kernel?

sorry i probs sound a bit thick, its late and im tired, but must go on! have to finish this install

There is an option: CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_PMAC_BLINK. Enable it to have the sleep light blink for HD activity while awake. If you don't like it, disable it. The PPC FAQ (linked below) explains how to set up DRI with your radeon. It works pretty well with the open source drivers.
