any ideas / suggestions??

what do you use? - if you use alsa, could you post your configs? seems to make things much easier when you make it off someone else's ;)

ok im really stuck with this now, but i have made progress...

/dev/dsp does not exist...

but i have snd-aoa loaded as a module with I2C (in kernel) etc and in lsmod it shows all required stuff..

Code:
snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc
snd_mixer_oss
snd_eq_dummy
snd_seq_oss
snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq
snd_timer
snd_seq_device
snd_aoa
snd
d_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device,snd-aoa
soundcore

but when alsasound starts:

Code:
Loading snd-card-0 ..
Loading snd-seq-oss
Loading snd-pcm-oss
*ERROR Failed to load necessary drivers
*Restoring Mixer Levels

-

/modules.d/alsa

Code:
alias snd-card-0 snd-aoa
alias snd-slot-0 snd-aoa

in ALSA part and ran modules-update etc

any ideas?

It doesn't look like you built it all in like I suggested in the FAQ. :p I've never had that fail.

Oh well, glad you got it working.
