ive noticed this little problem with pbuttonsd:

On system shutdown it sometimes fails to stop the service, sometimes I cant eject the cdrom and have to reboot, even eject /dev/cdrom doesn't do it. Has anyone else had similar problems like this on an ibook G4 ?

cheers for any help :)

I would suggest manually editing the keymap using xev to find the button values. For example, the eject key can be mapped to XF86Eject and XF86Eject to the following command
Code:
eject -T
, that requires >=eject-2.1.0 for the '-T'(toggle) switch. The other keys can be similarly mapped to various commands. The main disadvantage is the manual configuration.

Yes, I have the same pbbuttonsd not shutting down (or dies spontaneously) on my PowerBook G4. Have yet to resolve it.

No eject problem though. Sorry there.

Are you running Mac-On-Linux at the same time? If yes, then eject the CD-Rom from MacOSX. If not, then sorry, I don't know.
