3 days later, I have a new fully compiled system. Except some problem of digest with java, Gentoo succeeds very well this huge process. Great Gentoo :D. Thks to all gentoo dev !

The small problem I still have :

1) gtop won't compile :
Code:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/include                                          -I./intl -I./intl               -DGNOMELOCALEDIR=\""/usr/share/locale"\" -DLOCALEDIR=\"/usr/share/locale\"                    -I/usr/include/gnome-1.0 -DNEED_GNOMESUPPORT_H -I/usr/lib/gnome-libs/include -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include -I/usr/include/orbit-1.0 -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/include/libgtop-1.0 -DHAVE_LIBGTOP_SMP -DHAVE_LIBGTOP_SYSINFO -I/usr/include/gnome-1.0 -DNEED_GNOMESUPPORT_H -I/usr/lib/gnome-libs/include -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include -I/usr/include/orbit-1.0 -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include  -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include  -mcpu=7450 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -O2 -mtune=powerpc -pipe -Wall -Wunused  -c mdi.c

You can safely ignore those.
Also have a look at:

I had the same problem. Solved it by patching this way.

Same problem with fbpager here, and I've found problems with other packages:

Code:

app-arch/unshield-0.2
x11-plugins/gkrellmitime-1.0.1
app-emulation/qemu-user-0.8.2
app-emulation/qemu-softmmu-0.8.2-r1

QEMU won't compile because it says it only compiles under gcc 3.x.x...guess I'll have to keep both gcc-3.4.6 and 4.1.1 until the QEMU folks release a gcc4 version :-/

Otherwise, the whole upgrading process went very well! Gotta hand to the devs, great job!

a little update of the situation

1) there is a bug report : gnome-extra/gtop-1.0.13-r2 fails on gcc 4.1.1 at mdi.c but no solution
2) also a bug report and a patch to solve it : fbpager-0.1.4 does not compile (probably related to GCC 4.1.1)
3) you can find here an explanation (thanks to frenkel)
4) the warnings still occur
