To give you a little background, this is a G5 install on its way up. It's a 32-bit UL, and im on my way to running yabootconfig, but yabootconfig fails stating that it is unable to find mac-fdisk. So, I'm installing mac-fdisk that is, for whatever reason, failing on the ppc64 patch as follows:

Code:
livecd / # emerge mac-fdisk
Calculating dependencies... done!
>>> Emerging (1 of 1) sys-fs/mac-fdisk-0.1-r2 to /
>>> checking ebuild checksums ;-)
>>> checking auxfile checksums ;-)
>>> checking miscfile checksums ;-)
>>> checking mac-fdisk_0.1.orig.tar.gz ;-)
>>> checking mac-fdisk_0.1-10.diff.gz ;-)
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking mac-fdisk_0.1.orig.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/mac-fdisk-0.1-r2/work
 * Applying mac-fdisk_0.1-10.diff.gz ...                                                                                                               [ ok ]
 * Applying mac-fdisk-ppc.patch ...                                                                                                                    [ ok ]
 * Applying mac-fdisk-ppc64.patch ...

 * Failed Patch: mac-fdisk-ppc64.patch !
 *  ( /usr/portage/sys-fs/mac-fdisk/files/mac-fdisk-ppc64.patch )
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/mac-fdisk-0.1-r2/temp/mac-fdisk-ppc64.patch-26778.out

!!! ERROR: sys-fs/mac-fdisk-0.1-r2 failed.

So, I checked this .out file and here's the first piece of that one...
Code:

I'm using gcc 4.1.1, and the version of mac-fdisk it is trying to install is 0.1-rc2

thoughts or suggestions?

EDIT: This was due to the ppc64 flag in the USE variable. Do not use the ppc64 flag for a 32-bit userland.

could you please open a bugreport on bugs.gentoo.org and assign it to ppc64@gentoo.org?

you could also try to use the latest testing version for now.

Code:

$ echo "sys-fs/mac-fdisk ~ppc" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
$ emerge mac-fdisk

(this should install mac-fdisk-1.0-r5)

OK, I've created bug #142814 and attached the OUT file to it.
