I'm not sure if others have run into this, but after emerging world, Azureus will not run. I guess it has problems with the new IBM Java 1.5 JDK. If I change my default to point to the 1.4 JDK, it seems to run fine. Is there any way to keep 1.5 as the default and just force a particular app to use the 1.4?

I don't know about setting it to use a specific VM for a particular package, but you can set the VM for a particular user. Maybe what you could do is to specify that Azureus runs as a different user and set the VM for that user. java-config -s is used to set this. For full help, use java-config --help.

i created a script called azureus.sh that looks like:
Code:
source ~/.gentoo/java-env
~/bin/azureus/azureus &

and then ~/.gentoo/java-env looks like:
Code:
if [ -f $HOME/.gentoo/java ] ; then
        . $HOME/.gentoo/java
fi

and ~/.gentoo/java looks like:
Code:
# Autogenerated by java-config
# Command: --set-user-vm=ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04
JDK_HOME=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04
JAVAC=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04/bin/javac
PATH=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04/bin:/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04/jre/bin:${PATH}
# VERSION="IBM JDK 1.4.2.04"
JAVA_HOME=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04

works for me!

uhmmm, in azureus.sh though you might want to change
~/bin/azureus/azureus &
to just
azureus &
or whatever path your azureus is in
