Hi there,
Just for the shake of security I am asking advise on the following:
I have a PwrBook G4 with Tiger. The hdd has 2 partitions: 1st for the MacOS, the other is not formatted. As I see I need at least 3 (4?) more partitions: Linux, Bootstrap (and Apple partition map?) and swap. Can I create those partitions in the not formatted area or is it mandatory to have those partitions before the system partitions as described in the Gentoo PPC install doc?
I want to have both OSs on the system because they have different advantages and as I have learnt there is no penalty in using MacOS from Linux.
Short: I don't want to repatition the hdd if possible.
Thanx

you can delete the second, unformated partition while installing. then you have space for the linux partitions.

the apple partition map is already on your hard disk. just boot the install cd and start mac-fdisk. then you'll see your current layout and can change it as you want.

That means that Applebootstrap (or what) and PartMap partitions are present, I need to create a swap and the further system parts on the unformatted partition.
However, could You tell me how I can list the existing partitions (incl. the Appleboot and PartMap) from Openfirmware or MacOS? I do not know the device list under Open Firmware and MacOS disk utility shows only the 2 partitions - one for the MacOS, one unformatted.
