i just got my first mac today!!!
and i need some help getting gentoo ppc to run on it.
i have the minimal cd, and it boots fine.
everything is hunkey-dory, until i try to enable the network connection.
none of the eth.*'s are working, says "device doesnt exist"
however, there definately is a network card there!

the machine im installing on, is an Apple iMac g3 (first generation!)
with a 266mhz cpu, and 96mb of ram (which i am upgrading soon)
and a 4gb hard disk.
its the ugly teal-green color. but it is my first mac, and not bad for 5$!

... any suggestions would be GREAT. thank you!

It should be the bmac module on those iMacs, try loading it as described in step 8 here:

Good luck with the install. :)

to think, i should've known better. i guess i was way tired or something.
been mastering the x86* way of doing things for such a long time, that its hard to see the forest
because of all of these DARN TREES!

i appreciate the polite pat on the back.
thank you!
