I was rather unsure where to post this. Since it has to deal with the PPC GRP cd, I figured this is as good a place as any to post it. As the title says, the iso image is too big. Seriously, I've heard of some 800meg CD's floating around somewhere, but this iso image is 860 megs! There is NO way I can possibly burn it, and frankly, you try compiling KDE, openoffice, etc. on a machine you need to use for about 8 hours every day. (use meaning reboot into OSX since there's no openoffice in gentoo till it compiles.)

Right now, I'm downloading the iso in gentoo, and I'm going to mount it, so I can install open office and some other applications. It's a pain, but doable. I think someone just sized the ISO wrong, or something. Hope it gets fixed soon! :)

I just opened the ISO in Toast in OS X, and got rid of the KDE package and OpenOffice. It made it about the right size, so I just burned it from there.. I noticed that it was too large too though. Sort of threw a wrench into my "seamless" linux installation! :]

It's not a cd image, more a mini dvd image. What I did was just mount the image on a loop device. Admittedly that wouldn't work for a networkless install, unless you could download the image and store it on disk first.

I created the Mini-DVD and I know that they don't fit on a usual CD. I compiled everything that is needed for a GRP-installation. These are the same packages like x86 had when they offered GRP. Somehow they are a big larger on ppc...

Probably I can split the packages on two CDs next time. Like one for a KDE and one for a Gnome installation. Not sure right now ;-)
