So I've installed gentoo on my iBookG4 (1.2Ghz 512Mb) I am having a problem with sound. I've followed the alsa guide on the gentoo wiki but still no luck. This is from my dmesg:
Code:

Audio jack unplugged, enabling speakers.
input: dmasound beeper as /class/input/input4
AE-Init snapper mixer
PowerMac Snapper  DMA sound driver rev 016 installed
Core driver edition 01.06 : PowerMac Built-in Sound driver edition 00.07
Write will use    4 fragments of   32768 bytes as default
Read  will use    4 fragments of   32768 bytes as default
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.11rc4 (Wed Mar 22 10:27:24 2006 UTC).
snd: can't request rsrc  0 (Sound Control: 0x80010000:80010fff)
ALSA device list:
  No soundcards found.

If someone could please help I have just about everything else working, but without sound it's just not the same. :(

After my first post I did some more searching, but instead of looking for "ibook g4 alsa" I tried "Snapper" and found a post with a g4 powermac with the same problem. I believe it is fixed as it beeps at me but I have yet to emerge anything that uses sound so I'll get mpg321 and give it some more tests.

Please take a look at the PPC FAQ:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml#sound

You might have the DMA Sound OSS driver already loaded, which is preventing the ALSA driver from working. This is all listed in the FAQ.
